Overview

Clères Park is a zoo founded in 1919 by the ornithologist and naturalist Jean Delacour on an exceptional site. It features both an English-style botanical garden with rare plant species and a castle whose history dates back to the 11th century. 1,500 animals live in this wildlife park, nearly a thousand of which roam freely. The animal collections are primarily focused on birds, but there are also many mammals.

Why This Site Is Essential

Clères Park offers a unique experience that combines three treasures: A remarkable architectural heritage, featuring a castle and historic buildings dating back to the 12th century. An exceptional collection of wildlife, featuring rare species and birds living in semi-freedom. A rich variety of plant life, with a landscaped park featuring a wide range of plant species and certified as a “Jardin Remarquable” (Remarkable Garden)? An ideal place to combine exploration, nature, and history.

Additional information

Here are a few rules to follow so that you—and the animals—can have a good time: 1 – The lawn is the animals’ territory; you must stay on the paths. 2 – Feeding the animals is prohibited. The keepers are there to provide them with appropriate meals. 3 – Do not pick up or pluck the animals’ feathers. Feathers on the ground may be contaminated with diseases. 4 – The animals in the park are wild. Do not touch them. 5 – Do not run in the park; it frightens the animals. 6 – The park is also a botanical garden; do not pick the flowers. 7 – Keep an eye on your children! 8 – The use of drones is prohibited. 9 – Access to the park is strictly prohibited for any animals not belonging to the park. 10. Picnicking is prohibited in the park. A picnic area is available across from the park!
